Product Updates June 2025: Plan Smarter With ContactMonkey’s Content Calendar

Our Content Calendar has officially landed! The Content Calendar gives internal comms teams a real-time, centralized view of all scheduled emails, live events, and internal planning dates.

Introducing the Content Calendar, your new mission control for internal communications! Whether you’re scheduling an email, planning a town hall, or avoiding overlap with a blackout period, the Content Calendar gives internal comms teams full visibility into what’s happening, when, and with whom.

It’s a smarter, more collaborative way to manage your messaging, right from your ContactMonkey dashboard, where you can plan, coordinate, and execute campaigns with total confidence.

Why the Content Calendar Matters for Internal Comms

If you’ve ever wondered, “Did we already schedule something for that date?” or “When did that go out?” this is the feature that will help you stop asking those questions.

The Content Calendar solves a major pain point: lack of centralized visibility. It gives you and your team a unified, real-time view of all your sent and scheduled emails, live and draft events, plus internal planning tools like notes and blackouts.

Here’s why it matters:

  • You can plan proactively instead of reactively.
  • You’ll avoid communication clashes during holidays or quiet periods.
  • You can collaborate across teams without endless email threads or Teams pings.
  • You and your team can track everything in one place, including notes and planning blocks.

What You Can Do With the Content Calendar

From campaign planning to event coordination, the Content Calendar helps you see everything in one place—and act faster because of it. Here’s how the Content Calendar empowers your internal comms workflow:

1. See everything at a glance

The calendar displays:

  • Scheduled and Sent Emails (shown as one-hour blocks).
  • Live and Draft Events.
  • Internal Notes and Blackouts.
  • Color-coded entries so you can instantly differentiate content types.

Need a deeper dive? Click any calendar item to view details like sender, recipients, and tags.

2. Filter your calendar your way

Use the sidebar to filter by:

  • Sent or Scheduled Emails.
  • Live or Draft Events.
  • Notes and Blackouts.

This makes it easier to focus only on what’s relevant to your planning session without any distractions.

3. Choose the calendar view that works for you

  • Day View: Zoom in on high-volume days.
  • Week View: Balance near-term plans.
  • Month View: See the big picture.

Want to hide weekends? You can toggle those on and off too.

4. Edit and reschedule with ease

In Day and Week views, you can:

  • Drag and drop emails to new days or times.
  • Click into entries to edit emails or events.

Note: Events must be rescheduled by clicking in (not via drag-and-drop), and drag-and-drop isn’t available in Month view due to lack of hourly blocks.

Strategic Use Cases for the Content Calendar

The Content Calendar is about driving smarter internal communication strategies. Here’s how teams are using it to stay ahead:

1. Avoid content conflicts and communication overaload

You’ve got a company-wide update scheduled but so does HR. Instead of overwhelming inboxes with competing messages, the Content Calendar lets you spot overlaps early and coordinate timing across teams.

Why it matters: Reducing message fatigue increases the odds your content will actually be read.

2. Plan around key events, holidays, and blackout periods

Whether it’s a product launch or a scheduled system outage, you can mark key dates with notes and blackouts to ensure nothing goes out when it shouldn’t—or gets buried during peak periods.

Why it matters: Blackout visibility helps prevent scheduling mistakes, while Notes ensure important context isn’t forgotten during campaign planning.

3. Get a bird’s-eye view of team activity

Working across multiple teams or departments? Use the calendar to instantly see what your group has scheduled and sent, no need to chase down spreadsheets or Teams updates.

Why it matters: Increased transparency reduces confusion, aligns goals, and helps avoid duplicate efforts.

4. Move fast when priorities shift

Things change, and quickly. With drag-and-drop functionality in Day and Week views, you can easily adjust email timing in real time without having to rebuild campaigns or dig through old drafts.

Why it matters: Agility is key when communicating with a large, fast-moving workforce.

5. Streamline internal collaboration

Marketing wants to promote an initiative, People Ops has an engagement survey going out, and IT needs to announce a rollout. The Content Calendar acts as a single source of truth, so everyone can coordinate outreach without stepping on toes.

Why it matters: Cross-functional visibility ensures the right messages go out at the right time—and get the attention they deserve.

6. Build smarter campaigns with better timing

Use past send history (shown in your calendar) to analyze which days or times worked best. Then schedule your next campaign accordingly. You can even plan recurring sends using Notes as reminders.

Why it matters: Well-timed emails have higher open and click-through rates—and that means better engagement across the board.

Coming Soon: All Teams View

Sometimes you need a bird’s-eye view. Our upcoming All Teams toggle will let you switch between:

  • Team-specific calendars.
  • A global view across all teams.

Permissions:

  • Admins/Owners: See all content across teams.
  • Basic Owners/Managers: See content for their assigned teams.
