Rule

Preferred term for your people

Whatever you call your people, call them that everywhere. This keeps the term consistent across senders who never read the style guide.

The prompt

Flag the words ’employees’, ‘staff’ and ‘workers’ when they refer to our people. The approved term is ‘[associates]’. Do not flag these words inside official document titles or quoted policy text, for example ‘Employee Handbook’.

How to use

Replace '[associates]' with your word ('team members', 'colleagues', 'crew'). Keep the exception for document titles or the rule will flag your own handbook.
