Check

Rule

No ‘who this applies to’ line

Readers decide in seconds whether an email is about them. Say who it is for up front and the right people keep reading.

The prompt

Flag any email that changes a policy, process or tool but does not say, in the first two sentences, which groups it applies to, for example ‘This applies to all salaried associates in Canada.’ All-company culture and celebration emails are exempt.
